Maybe there's something I'm missing, but I don't quite understand how an LCD television can look any good - video on my desktop and laptop LCDs looks generally looks like crap compared to the same signal / source on a standard CRT monitor or TV screen.

Not too sure, but it might have something to do with LCD TVs having a much lower resolution than a standard computer monitor.

I have seen some beautiful LCD tv's and I can watch movies/video on my LCD and it looks great as well. (Dell 19in)

Well, to be honest, I'm thinking mostly of an older monitor and my old laptop. I haven't tried it very much or very recently with newer stuff. And, the only "tuner" I have to use on an LCD screen is a PCI TV tuner for my desktop. The interpolation that occurs when I blow it up to full screen is probably what makes it look bad.

Bingo. That's also one reason why SD television looks terrible when blown up on HD-caliber displays.

No worries--SED will promptly be replaced by an even better technology right around the time it hits store shelves. 😀
