How would basic analog cable look on a 26" or 30" LCD TV?

Like ass.
Save money and buy a nice tube, or buy rear projection tv system (cost more but much bigger - size to cost ratio = good ftw) (or a dlp)

really? I don't need a big tv since this will be in my bedroom replacing a 20" tube. I want to reduce the bulkyness of what I got now. Would a smaller LCD look better than a 26 or 30 inch one, like maybe a 23" one?

Yeah, I pay like $14 or so right now for basic, and that makes me feel fuzzy inside. :D

Well there are two options to get HDTV for cheap:
  • 1) Buy an HDTV tuner card with QAM such as the DVICO Fusion series which sells for around $150 shipped with remote. I can't really explain it since I'm an HDTV n00b so forgive me for butchering it. If the HDTV tuner card works with your cable provider, it reads the unscrambled local OTA channels so you can watch it on your monitor or LCD TV. With a powerful CPU, lots of RAM and 200GB+ hard drive space you can also record HDTV as well sort of like a TiVo without monthly fees.
  • 2) Buy an LCD with a built in HDTV tuner, check your address on antennaweb.org and buy an antenna such as the Zenith Silver Sensor for $19.99

I hope that helps :)

Cool, I got a few questions. I live about 30 miles from all the TV stations in atlanta, my father lives about 22 miles from all the stations in atlanta. He has a big ass antenna to pull his HDTV signal OTA but I don't think there is any amplifier on his antenna though. Sometimes his OTA signal drops out, will living further out than him using a amplifier antenna be enough to keep the signal from dropping out?

Also what does this number 1 option do? Is the OTA channels that come thru the analog cable in both HD and regular? I don't understand.
