Hi everyone,

I have a Viewsonic 17" Viewpanel VA800 LCD. (my friend gave it to me, i dont know if the warranty is still valid)
and the screen has an immense amount of horizontal waves going on.. (kind of like a really bad old tv..)

just constant waves

I have the newest drivers, and have tried changing the refresh rate (which helps a little bit, but not enough)

can someone please give me some direction as what to do?

*edit.. forgot to say THANKS

Thanks for the help

If you're using VGA, either switch to DVI if possible, or get a high quality VGA cable. You wouldn't believe the difference a quality cable makes.

The LCD screen in my car's navi does this every once in a while if the heater is on. I think it's a shielding problem. Replacing the cable with a better quality cable should do it.
If not, remove any sources of EMI.. fluorescent lights, power sources, etc.

In case it's connected to analog VGA:

You might also want to reduce the card's refresh rate to 60 Hz, and THEN use the panel's auto-adjust feature so it can phase itself in to the video signal. Some panels do the auto-adjust a lot better when there are windows open that show black and white contents. Setting the background to a light color for the process will also help the panel figure out the video signal.

If still no good, try manual adjust. "Hor Phase" is your friend.

If all that doesn't work, return it.

my guess is you are using a refresh rate higher than 60hz, change it to 60 and it should be fine
