The only thing I don't like is the aspect ratio, why they cannot make a 1280x960 LCD I don't know. But at 1280X1024 the aspect is 5x4 as opposed to most displays being 4x3, so a perfect circle would appear as an elipse streched vertically (very slightly of course). The most highly respected LCDs on the market are Dells right now...their 19" is 1600x1200 which is 4x3 of course.

The other thing to look into is the per pixel color depth. Most panels with very low latency are 6bit, the Dell is 8bit...lending itself to much more acurate color reproduction.

Did you read the article anand did on the home page? Lots of good info in there.

First off, I used to work in a similar retail enviornment, and your friend CAN lose his job over that. Secondly, there's typically not much markup on this type of product...I found the monitor you're looking at on pricegrabber for $400. Dell has a 20" widescreen (1680x1050) for only $500. Depending on what knid of break your friends talking about, you might want to look elsewhere, for your own sake...and his.

Well he'd just be taking my cash to work with him, buying it with his employee discount, and giving it to me after work...Is he really going to get in trouble for that? He doesn't use his discount much anyways.

actually with some looking in hot deals section, you can get the dell 2005fpw for well under 500$. In fact, I picked one up for 354$ shipped a month or so ago.
