LCD selection help!

If you're looking for a 19" LCD, I'd recommend a screen with DVI and rated 12ms or better. I'm a big fan of Samsung screens, and the 930B (8ms) or 930BF (4ms) are excellent.

What resolution did you run your 21" screen at? 19" LCD's run at 1280X1024, so if you ran your 21" screen around there it should look great, but if you like small text (like your 21" @ 1600X1200), the text may look a bit big. In that case, a 20" LCD would be a perfect replacement.
 
But the problem with a 19" panel is his $290 budget. That's why I recommended the 17" 730B.

It's not a good idea to save a few dollars on a lower quality monitor, since that's pretty much all you're going to be looking at while using a computer. If you want a 19" monitor, then you'll have to save up.
 
The 930B is alright, though I hate the backlight bleeding that creates a vertical line through the middle of my screen. And I'd prefer an 8 bit color panel, but no ghosting is EVER, EVER noticable. And I'm usually one to notice.

Hm. The 730B and 930B aren't much different, but I don't have this problem. Are you sure it's not just a defect on your monitor?

Oh yeah, and my 730B has no dead pixels and hasn't had any since early July when I got it.
 
Is this for gaming?

I have a Samsung 710T 17" 12ms. (Tr+Tf) monitor and I'm not going to sugar-coat anything here: this monitor is great for gaming, but leaves a little to be desired in very high-motion sequences if its at the right color and the right time. For example, navigating a tank in Battlefield 2 on the blue sky produces quite a bit of blur. In Wolfenstein, I see no blur at all no matter where I am. Reason being Wolfenstein is a very gray game. LCDs respond faster in the middle gray spectrum, which is why gray-to-gray measurements are always lower. On subtle variations of color you won't see any discernable blurring.
 
i had my monitor running @ 1600 X 1200
but isn't 17" a bit on the small side?
and yes my system's for gaming
Now i'm really thinking of NU-L921G given the price of 269
how's that?
 
We use 2 Dell 18" LCDs, 1 Sony 18" LCD, 1 Hitachi 21" CRT and 1 Dell 19" CRT.
If we wanted a new LCD, the Samsung would be our choice. We use our monitors for digital video and graphic work.
We recommend at least a 19" TFT digital.

Since the Post office doesn't deliver today (stupid government holiday!)...I should have the monitor tomorrow. I'll let you know when I get it. check out Anand's review though. He rated it better than most of the other 19" LCD's that cost much more. It uses an excellent 8-bit panel.
