LCD screen twitching/rippling

Hey everyone. I have got a problem where my LCD screen appears to be twitching. If you look at the edges it looks as if the screen is rippling almost. It appears to be rippling down the screen from the top like a wave. I noticed this last night when I came home from a friends. I had left the computer on when i left and turned off the LCD monitor like I always do. I was then gone for 8 hours. It was initially 83 degrees (F) when I left. Before I went to sleep I turned off my computer hoping it had something to do with the heat, as the room is upstairs and there is no air conditioning. I woke up this morning, turned it back on and it was doing the same thing. It did stop unexpectedly this morning, but only for about a minute before started to do the same thing again. Can anyone help me please? Thank you.

If you were on a CRT, I'd say your refresh rate was messed up and the monitor was fuxx0r3d. Can you double-check that no one messed with any resolution/refresh rate settings, and that it's at 60Hz? If it's ok, can you hook it up to another computer somewhere? If the problem persists RMA or dump it.

Resolution is unchanged and so is the refresh rate. The refresh rate is usually set at 75Hz, but I tried it at 60Hz and it's still happening. I don't understand why it stopped doing this and worked fine for a minute of so this morning. I may be able to hook it up to my roommates laptop to make sure. I'd really like to avoid just getting rid of it. My system is a few years old, I built it in December 2003. My radeon 9600 only supports up to 1024x768 resolution. So it wouldn't be a good move to buy a new monitor. My whole machine needs to be upgraded pretty much (still using AGP, DDR, etc.) so I'm trying to avoid buying anything new until I have the money to upgrade everything. Thanks for the help Imp. I'll try to get it hooked up to another monitor and see what the outcome is.
