LCD Screen not coming on.

I power on my Dell Inspiron 1501 and cannot get the screen to light up at all.
I have tried a new LCD panel and inverter, and still have no luck.

When I tilt the screen into the light at the right angle, I can see the Vista login screen and logo. I also cannot get video from the VGA port nor can I get the backlight on from Fn key combinations or power-cycling the laptop.

Help?

Did you try to get video from the VGA port to an external monitor before you replaced the LCD panel and inverter?

Possibly your video chip on the MB is fried which would require a complete MB replacement.

I did not think to since I saw video from the main screen. What I'm trying to understand is how the screen works as if it has no backlight on and yet it would be the video chip on the motherboard that is the problem.
