I dont think LCD's need them cause they dont give out any radiation, flicker or glare!

"filter"? I'm never seen anything for a lcd screen. Do you mean just a transparent covering? That's what I use on my screen. It's just a plastic sheet that came included with my flat panel. It's held on by tape on the sides and probably meant to be taken off. But, I like it since it protects my screen from food splashes and liquids.

Jeez ace! You spent all that money for the mean screen and now you watch it through food splattered plastic? Tone down the drool flinging or get some wet wipes! :) Actually, Endust makes some anti-static wet wipes that do a nice job - Walmart has them cheap. I use them all the time because my cat parks in front of my monitor and sneezes when happy!

haha! :) It's a really nice piece of plastic! Barely notice it's there anymore.

I'm really overprotective of my monitor. I ruined my Sony screen before. The screen probably have some chemical layer on it. After I wiped it with glass cleaner, it left light purplish streaks.. That was a sad day.

Then in another experience, I did some damage to my camera mirror. It's a Canon SLR. I detached the lens and noticed there was a tiny fiber on the mirror. I use a clean tissue wipe it away. That was a bad idea. :p I think there was some oil on the tissue, the mirror was left with a light streak. A camera shop said it'd cost $150 to replace just that mirror!! It still works fine with that mirror, but just knowing that there's a streak there disturbs me..

Yup, I'm keeping that plastic sheet on there. It's doesn't really detract from the look of the flat panel, nor does it make the picture blurry.

Some day.. I'll take it off or it'll fall off..
