They are great screens. I own a 120hz capable, tempered glass version.

That being said, there are several caveats.

They are 1440p (yes, this is a drawback). You will find that HDMI will not drive them at full resolution. (The specs may say they will; reality says otherwise) The majority of the korean 27" IPS are DVI only; the more expensive "multi" ones have HDMI, VGA and displayport (the even more expensive ones). Even the multi ones will not drive the monitor at full 1440p resolution except over DL-DVI or displayport. To drive one of the DVI only ones at full resolution, you'll need a $75-$100 Dual Link active DP->DVI adapter. Which have a reputation for being flaky.

If you're going to be using the monitors with a macbook air, I'd stick with the dell ultrasharp U2412m. I have the 23" version of it and it runs well, has good connectivity and can take HDMI signals via an inexpensive adapter. That and it's got the most pixel real estate and is an IPS screen, and has an excellent stand.

Connecting the Macbook Air is not a priority, I will be using my desktop 95% of the time. How will sucha high resolution fare with a GTX 470? Why buy a 24"WUXGA when you can get a 27" WQHD for the same price? hmm...?

If it's just for a desktop, then the korean 27" IPS is fine. Your GTX 470'll be able to handle it just fine.

Just note that you'll probably lose the ability to use your MBA with said monitor without the $75 adapter.

I did a bit of research and the official dutiable rate for LCD panels in Pakistan is 35%. Fedex says the average duty payable on the declared value is 53%. I have also been told that it's not much use arguing with courier services over their fees. There is also a chance I get away with paying nothing at all.

Then there is the possibility of dead pixels and the fact that I will not be able to play too many newer games at the native resolution. But I still want one.

Finally got my Crossover. Had to pay $120 duty. It's absolutely gorgeous. Best purchase I have made for a while.
