LCD Rear Projection vs DLP Rear Projection TVs?

Hey,
We were out Christmas shopping today and we ran into a 50" LCD projection TV, in all honestly my pants started fitting a little tighter, that thing ruled!!! What are the advantages of a DLP over an LCD and vice versa? I believe the DLPs have bulps that will go out every 4-8k but that's ALOT of TV watching 😀 We were this close to getting it but decided we should shop around, anyone have opinions? I know Ameesh has a DLP, speak up 😀

prices have come down a lot. enough I'd say that RP should not be considered anymore.

Rear LCD looks so much better...

LCD projection - no DLP rainbows, a little bit cheaper than DLP

DLP - true blacks, LCDs/LCD projections cannot display very good blacks

DLP has better blacks, LCD is usually considered to have more natural colors. Both need the bulbs replaced.

From what I can tell, LCD and plasma have clearer pictures..but DLP is much cheaper..I'm no expert, though.

I have a DLP and love it...I will never buy a TV again plus the size of the unit makes it fit into any space

samsung dlp and sony rear lcd... can't go wrong with either one... flip a coin

The new (HD2+ and HD3) DLP's do not have the rainbow affect or the noise from the color wheel. LCD and Plasma tv's still suffer from burn-in. The DLP's are not susceptible to burn-in. Not to mention that the DLP only requires a $2-300 bulb whereas the other are significantly more expensive to keep longer. And the chance of burnt pixels.

There are many people on the AVS forums raving about the new DLP technology.
