LCD Projector

I'm looking for a pretty good quality projector that is portable. It will be used in varios locations connected to laptops. I'm hoping to spend around $1500. Maybe as high as $2000 if I have to. Curretly the Epson PowerLite 51c looks pretty good.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I havn't looked at the powerlite 51c, but....

My dad purchased the Epson PowerLite 7500C a year or two ago, and it's GREAT! First of all its around $1500, and it's great in all aspects. It is VERY portable, the projector + cables + manual, etc. fit into the carrying case the size of a a small handbag or so. Not only is it portable, but it's BRIGHT and very sharp even from distance. My dad uses it for important presentations in front of the big-wigs @ kraft foods, wal-mart, target, etc. and I use it to watch movies (Blackhawk down the size of the whole wall = mmmmmm.....) and it performs beautifully no matter what the task. Also it can perform at high resolutions with the XGA display. I Highly recommend it!

The Infocus X1 is a good choice if you are willing to go with DLP.

Basically, it takes an IC with a bunch of teeny mirrors on the top, and by moving those to reflect or not reflect the light shown at them, it generates the image, IIRC.

Ok, I put together a spreadsheet with a bunch of options.

Does anything jump out at you? I'm thinking the TLP S30 is probably the best value on there and would probably be good enough.

It depends on what you're looking to do with it.

Is it competing with ambient light?
Does the screen door effect from LCD projectors bother you?
Does the rainbow effect from DLP projectors bother you, and if so, at what speed?
What are you using it for most? Movies? Business? Games?
