LCD panel in case with computer temps???

Hi,

I am interested in modding my computer, and i was thinking it would be cool to have an lcd panel (maybe 5x5 color) in the spot where maybe 3 5.25" drive bays go. Does anyone no of any ways of hooking this up to let it display computer temps and fan speeds, etc?
And better yet, make it a touch screen to control fan speeds?(yah.. right. but seriously if you no PLEASE post it.) Also does anyone no of somethign like this thats prebuilt? adn justs has some wires going to like a special pci card?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

You bet, it's possible! I was talking to Mountain Mods about this last week, and they seemed very receptive to the idea!

Specifically !

Example for use: Displaying system temps, CPU, CPU-load, Networking Stats, Memory use, Winamp Titles, News-Feeds (i.e. BBC-World), Game Stats, Email details,... etc,etc.

My Mountain Mods U2-UFO Opti-1203 case has 10x5.25" slots to play with (and fill) -- and I think a couple of these would fit in nicely!

You could probably get a PCI display card and run it as a second monitor. See the Thermaltake Mozart TX thread here for ideas that might be applicable to your modding project. Of course that 7" screen won't fit a stancard tower case. but the idea is the same.

Don't know if you're 'talking' to me, but if I wanted to go to extremes, it certainly wouldn't be with a Mozart, so called :laugh:

It looks like a mod job based on an Antec/Chieftec/Chenming with a stack of HDD drawers with purple plastic lever ends. I was thinking L-L, but now I don't think so. Pretty wicked looking though...

I always thought this was really really cool. All three are the same panel, the other two are just premodded to fit into three 5.25 inch bays. It runs off your tv-out from your video card so it really is like a second monitor. Only thing it doesn't have is touch sensitivity, but I don't think it's needed if it's a second display.
