LCD Panel decision. Need help.

LCD Panel Decision.

Is it worth the added $150 for the upgrade. I will be playing Far Cry and maybe some older 3Dish type games like Age of Mythology "Gold Edition" and WarCraft III... not WoW.

Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)

High Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch display (1920 x 1200) [ Add $150.00 ]

Here the rest of the specs:

Intel® Core 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
Windows XP Pro (erasing Vista until I find a decent DX10 game i want to play)
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

I'm going with DELL because my Military Star card allows me... 0% interest.... 0 payments... till July 2008 on DELL laptops only'

On warcraftIII no. The max resolution is something smaller then that. It kinda sucks because im running a 24 inch LCD.

On age i believe it can go to max resolution. HOWEVER, I would go with the max resolution because on a 17inch because you can always step down.

Also farcry, i dont know if it will be playable at that resolution with that videocard. But you can never have too much real estate in laptop or desktop screens. 😀

I would only go with the 1920x1080 display if the computer came with an HD DVD or BluRay drive in order to take advantage of the 1080p resolution. But if you don't have any HiDef media sorce then there is no need for that high of a resolution on a laptop, espcially since the 8600M will no be able to handle games at that res.

Dell has a Vostro 200 Desktop fot $399.99, 19 inch LCD Monitor included. The shipping would be $30 = $429.99

However, if you opt for the 20 inch LCD Monitor at an additional $30, the shipping is free = $429.99
