So, does that mean you can run dual cards with dual monitors and have sli turned off?

Yes, AFAIK you can run multiple monitors simultaneously by disabling SLI which is very easy to do in the system display properties applet and then rebooting.

SO, that means you could use any pci-express cards on a sli motherboard? YOu could have to x850xt's each runing a motior?

Theoretically, yes you can have any matching pair of pci express graphics cards on an SLI motherboard and run dual monitors as long as you turn off SLI. The moment you turn on SLI, the only monitor that will show a display is the one hooked to the primary output of the adapter in the first slot. If the graphics cards are not a matching pair, you will not be able to use the SLI feature however. . .I am not sure if the cards will work independently or not if they are not a matched set in an SLI motherboard. In other words, if you have 2 graphics cards that are not the same make / model in an SLI motherboard, I don't know whether or not you can still use them regardless of whether SLI is on or off. I say "Theoretically" because it is supposed to be possible but I haven't tried it.

It would be pretty sweet if you could do that. You could have a 6800ultra for Doom3 and a x850xt for HL2!

I'm pretty sure you can, but it would defeat the purpose of having an SLI system since you wouln't be able to turn on SLI. It'd be just like any other system with two display adapters.
