My dad's lookin to get me an LCD monitor for Christmas for around ~ $400.

I'd like 19", 18", or maybe a 17"

Where's the best place to get one these days? I don't see much in Hot Deals.

those are all over $500 :(

Any good 18" or bigger LCD will certainly cost at least $500. You're better off buying a good, but smaller one, if that budget is firm.

if your dad doesn't game just buy any decent lcd I say... why go for expensive dell (which is probably out of stock for most lcd monitors or short on stock thats why no discounts atm) when he's doesn't need it?

I got my 1800FP two months ago for about $400. I bought it two days too early though. Right after I bought it, a $25 off stackable coupon came out.

Absolutely nothing, just rubbing in "you snooze, you lose" :)

The BEST deal was the Dell 1900FP for $467 plus tax with free shipping, awesome deal!

Maybe you can wait until a good deal comes out. There seems to be a great monitor deal at least once a month.

Gonna have to disagree with you on that one. The best deal was the 1800FP and Dell system for ~$560 shipped. Sold computer for ~$325 and I had a 1800FP for $235. :)

I have a Samsung 172T, but it might be a tad pricey. It's a perfect monitor, really sharp and hardly no ghosting for high-speed games. Go for either a Samsung or a Dell (Samsung manufactures for Dell) because they are the best overall LCDs.
