I am looking in to getting a new monitor for multipurpose use, app,s dvd movies, and games but have a couple of questions.

I heard that LCD monitors have upto 50ms lag between what actually going on and whats being displayed is this true?

If so the LCD monitors would NOT be the right choice if I like to play online games because of the added lag time correct?

Also if true then does plasma have the same drawback?

Thanks

newer lcds tend to have much lower reponse time - 25ms and below, smaller lcds 15" and 17" tend to be quicker too, although the newer 18 and 19" screens are getting pretty fast. you have to be careful and really make sure you know what the rated response time is before you buy, but the quick lcds are fine for online FPS games.

i just got myself an LG Flatron L1510S and it's fantastic, great in movies, games and general desktop use, it has a response time of 30ms i think, or 25ms

anything higher than 30ms though and will notice it start to lag a little
if you see a TFT monitor you like, check out the manufacturers website's specifications and check out the response time if they show it.

most new ones wont have anything higher than 30ms anyway so you should be ok no matter what, but just be ware of certain brands that offer really cheap screens as they might have a slow response time to make up for the cheap price.

good luck in finding a nice TFT, yuo wont go back once you go TFT :)
