I think I want a 15" for a few reasons. 1024x768 is good for games for me. I have a thing for it. ^_^ But really, with my normal budget, I don't think I should usually go over that resolution in games. I really want an LCD, though, because of the less strain on my eyes and because of LCD's super-thinness. I really only play MMORPG-type games, with the occasional faster-paced game, if that helps with your ... helping ... me.

Could you point me to some good models? Price is a concern, but I can save up for whatever is good. Thank you so much for your help!

Oh yeah, another reason I like 1024x768 is because it's easy to find wallpapers at the resolution. ;)

since 15" is a bit old now, you'll be hard pressed to find anything special -- pricewise it will also be hard to find good value, as 17" is only slightly more

something with low/ish response times (16-12 should do), DVI connection should suit you fine

maybe something on the secondhand market might do you well, as there are plenty of people upgrading and you'll then at least get your first taste of LCD and see if you like it :)

also with the wallpapers, have you heard of stretching? or just centering the pic and having a border ;)

Best suggestion I've got for you is to save up your money and watch the Hot Deals forum for deals on the Dell LCDs. You may be able to get a 17", 19" or maybe even a 20" for what you were willing to pay for a 15". You can try searching for older, expired deals for a savings goal. . .

Also if your running Windows XP you can run the higher resolution LCD at lower resolutions without much of a problem as XP will blend (? if thats the right word) the GUI so that it doesnt look pixelated or blocky.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't really have a budget yet. This is all theoretical. Colors I don't really care about, specifics I don't know.
