So I just picked up a used 23" Samsung SyncMaster 2343BWX, a nice step up from my 10 year old 17" LCD (also a Samsung SyncMaster
).
I was all set to enjoy Oblivion in widescreen (16:9), but when I choose a widescreen resolution like 848x480 or 1280x720, the image is not stretched to fill the screen. Instead the monitor is in native resolution mode (2048x1152) with the game running in a small box in the center. I have looked through all the monitor menus to find some option to stretch or scale the image with no luck. There was one promising option called Image Size which lets me select between Auto and Wide, but this only seems to have an effect on 4:3 resolutions like 800x600 and 1024x768.
Is this a deficiency of the monitor, video card, drivers, game, or what?
My video card is Radeon 9800 Pro running Microsoft drivers that came with Windows 7 x64.
Thanks!
