I'm a writer and I've been suffering from eye strain so it was suggested I change my monitor to something else. Currently I have a a 19inch IIyama Vision Master Pro 450, which I've had since 1999.

I've been reading up on tons of LCD monitors and I've found three I like the look of for price, features, screen size. But it's difficult to judge performance so I was wondering if anyone has any experience of any of these monitors and can make any reccommendations. Bearing in mind that I do like to game sometimes, and I watch a lot of movies on my system as well.

The three I've been looking at are:

Formac Ltd Gallery 1740 DVI Version

Samsung SM181T 18"LCD 1280x1024@85Hz
(or the 19inch on this one)

LG Electronics I.T L1810B 18.1" LCD TFT in Silver

All help gratefully accepted!

Hi, I would also like to know the same thing. I have heard that the SAMSUNG 191T is a LOT better than the 181T, both through reviews and so on. The question is, are there any better LCDs. I think the best thing to do is to find a place and compare them. If you are going to do that, could you please let me know which one you thought was better in sharpness and quality? Thanks, I hope someone will post a message regarding this soon...

There really is no diifference between the 181T and the 191T, other than one more inch andd a higher price tag. I was faced with this same descision about a month ago annd found that the Samsung 181T was the way to go. I love the space I save and the fact that the picture is bright, crisp text even at very small sizes, a very low responsee time (25ms) makes it perfect for just about anything you want to do. I game with the monitor also and find there to be almost no lag in the image, even in the fastest FPS. I recieved my monitor with not a single dead pixel and have found none since. If you're looking for an aweesome LCD, this one is definately the way to go! BTW, if you have a chance to use the DVI instead of analog I would highly recommend it, the color iss a lot richer, especially in places where you have graphics...Games, DVD movies, and Powerpoint slides. Hope this helps.

Hey there! I just bought a Samsung 191T today. I overnighted it and it should be here early tomorrow morning. I'll let you know how it is!
