LCD monitor vs LCD TV: what offers the best performance and overall viewing experience per dollar? (knowing that LCD monitors offer superior resolution, but are costly for larger screen sizes)

USES:
Multipurpose functioning: HTPC (mostly DVD, nonHD cable TV), word processing, gaming, internet

LIMITATION:
- studio apt, therefore LCD device
- price: upper limit $1500

DISPLAYS CONSIDERED: (obviously prefer larger, but consider bang/buck)

- Dell Utrasharp 2405FPW 24" $1200
- Apple 23" Cinema Display $1500

- Dell 30" LCD TV $1399
- Olevia 27" LCD TV (LT27HV) $700-800
- Olevia 32" LCD TV (LT32HV) $1400

- Other display recommendations welcome (including Panasonic, Sharp, Samsung, but these seem too expensive)

- I have read the threads on Syntax/Olevia and Dell, but still need some help
- Thanks!

LCD TV's look pretty darn good with computers as long as they're running at their native resolution. The main thing you'll have to remember is that the pixels on LCD TV's are bigger than LCD monitors.

Personally I'd go with a 2405. Good bang for your buck, future 1080p compatibility, and large enough for movies & HTPC, but small enough that it would be functional as a computer screen. 27/30" screen I'd think would be too big for standard PC use... and probably don't have the best refresh rate for gaming.
