LCD monitor transport

Has anyone shipped an LCD monitor overseas before? Is it safe to do, or is not advised? I would be shipping it by boat, not by air, and all in original packaging. But i'm wondering if i'm asking for trouble? The place i'm going i will be coming back from, probably in a year or so, so I could always buy one there. Just not sure what to do... thanks...
 
The odds are very high that , if you are not in Asia, your LCD was shipped in a container vessel. It should be a very safe way to ship, assuming correct & proper packing. Just be sure to insure it & have it marked FRAGILE.
