LCD: monitor size & pixel response correlation?

I currently use a 15" Dell e151FPp, which is manufactured by Phillips and has a 35ms response time. I play FPS games on it (UT2k3, ET, CoD) and have no problem with ghosting or tearing bothering me. However, I recently got to play Q3A on a 17" LCD with 25ms response time (Samsung 173T) and the ghosting was enough to bother me. Both monitors use VGA (analog) connections.

Does a smaller monitor with a higher response time have less noticeable ghosting than a larger monitor with lower response times? I've been planning on getting a 17" but if the ghosting with 25ms is going to be worse than the 35ms on my 15" I think I'll stick with the 15"! The little e151FPp I got for free last year has great color reproduction so I'd hate to have to go to a 16.2m monitor just to get 16ms response times!
