I am shopping for a monitor for my Sons system. He currently has a 19" LCD (5:4, not WS). I have a budget of around $150. Of course, I'd gladly spend a good bit more for something that is much better. He surfs the web, watches videos and plays FPS's (L4D, COD, etc.). He also has an XBox in his room connected to an old 19" TV. I really don't ever see him using the XBox, but I figured that I really should consider a monitor that has HDMI, so that I can get rid of that CRT TV.

I've been looking around a bit and I am close to pulling the trigger on this monitor:

ASUS VH236H

I had seen some other that I liked, but there was always a reason I dismissed it, 1 year warranty (Acer), questionable quality (Auria), etc... My Sons current monitor, a Hanns-G 19" developed a problem after about two years of use. I sent it out, they repaired it and returned it with the back panel completely NOT SECURED (the 100mm X 100mm panel where an arm would connect). I ended up taking it apart and finding 3 out of 4 screws inside, so I secured the mounting panel myself. That being said, I don't hate Hanns-G (or Hanns Spree), but I am not eager to buy from them again.

Any suggestions on why I should get this or a different monitor would be appreciated. I am not that familiar with monitor technology and figure that some here could steer me in a good direction.

-Thanks, Ken

BTW: He got a system upgrade for Xmas last year, so he has:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 Wolfdale 2.66GHz
ASUS P5Q LGA 775 Intel P45
Corsair 2 X 2GB DDR2
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4830 512MB

His system is not overclocked and has so far been running his games fine. Of course, his current resolution is 1280 x 1024 and the new screen would probably be at a minimum of 1440 x 900. So, if you know of problems with this hardware and that resolution, information would be appreciated.
