LCD monitor question

I just bought my first LCD monitor, the Dell 2001fp. Is it normal for the corners to be white? Mostly during start up, during normal use I usually don't notice it, except sometimes while playing dark games, I'll see it a little on the left top corner.
It seems ok, but I just want to be sure that it's not defective before it's too late.

No, they shouldn't be white. That model has a reputation for having problems with backlight bleed, which may be what you are seeing. I would return it.

All LCDs have *some* amount of backlight bleed (so the edges/corners will often be *slightly* lighter than the rest of the screen). This is most visible when displaying a completely black background.

The 2001FPs did supposedly have issues with sometimes being WAY out of whack; if it looks really bad, you should exchange it for a new monitor with Dell.

My 2005WPS dell (I think thats the name, the 21" widescreen LCD) has some brightness in the corners as well on startup, however, it hasn't gotten worse (knock on wood) in 1 year of use and it doesn't bother me at all, so if its fine when you are watching movies or playing games I would just keep it, specially if it doesn't have any dead pixels.
