It's a vertical white line, about 5 pixels wide. From google, I learned that I will need a new LCD screen. However, the line doesn't bother me. Might it get worse? as in, myabe will it get wider or turn off alltogether? Anyone had any experience with this type of thing?

... you ran the auto-adjust feature for your screen, right? And tried to correct it with the front panel controls?

Or tried it on another video card or computer?

I did all of that, it's still there. I think there is something wrong with the "line driver" according to various google searches. I'm just trying to figure out if I should keep this or trash it.

Is the backlight peeking out along one edge? Sounds like something shifted while the LCD panel was being built. That shouldn't happen.
If it is in fact 5 entire vertical columns of LCD pixels being stuck "full on" so that it is a bright white line, then I would worry. That really, really shouldn't happen, and if the panel controller has degraded to that point, then who knows what it might do in the future. Alternately, it could be that a few of the columns of the press-fit connector between the LCD screen itself and the controller circuitry are not making good contact. However, I would NOT suggest trying to fix that yourself, those contacts are so small, that one is much more likely to cause more problems. If you've ever taken apart an LCD calculator or GameBoy, then I'm sure you know what I mean, except that PC LCDs' contacts are much smaller and more numerous and even more fragile.

So I should throw this in the trash then? OR do I take a gamble that this won't crap out on me in the next year?

I would say "RMA it too", but one last thing to check - are you using the analog VGA, or the DVI digital input connection (assuming it has one)? Is there any sort of horizontal-centering control? Does your computer's display-driver have a horizontal-centering adjustment? If you adjust either one of those, does the problem change or go away?

The problem does not change when I mess around with the horizontal settings. The white line stays there, even if the monitor is not connected to the computer. One thing I did notice, is when I have the monitor off for a day or more, the line starts to fade away. Once the moniotr is left on, the line comes back. I cannot rma it because it's not under warranty, unless sharp offers lifetime warranties for its LCD monitors? I was going to throw it away if it's no good.

Well, thanks for the help guys, I ended up taking it to a recycle center. Hopefully they'll find some use for it...
