LCD monitor dead?

The monitor is just showing vertical lines of different colors, white black red green etc and sometimes a chunk of the same color, that's all it shows from boot until I turn the computer off. The lines and colors don't change or move. Does this mean the monitor is dead and beyond saving?

No, probably the video output from the pc! or a cable failure, loose cable!

Hmm, I just tried an an older lcd monitor I had on the computer and it displays fine. So I replugged the "broken" one and it's still showing just vertical lines and nothing else. Any ideas?
