Really sorry if this topic has been posted before. I just ordered the Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20.1 LCD monitor. This is my first LCD monitor. I've always used a refresh rate program for my CRT monitor. This program always seemed to help the games run smoother or less jerky. I do have the Nvidia 6800 Ultra video card. I don't know if I need to use the refresh rate program when I get the LCD monitor. Does it matter if I use it???. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

you didn't mention which program you use... But that doesn't matter that much. LCD monitors as you seem to know operate in a different way than CRT's refresh rates for LCD's needn't be so high to get a good picture. In fact many times higher refresh rates may actually cause the image displayed to get a little jerky. I don't think you would need to worry about refresh rates as much with your new monitor, so perhaps you can try not using the program, see how that works for you.

Thanks for the replies.
The program I'm using with my CRT is RefreshForce. When The LCD comes in I'll give it a go without using this program. I'll try it at 60hz the default. I'm sure I'll try it at 75hz. Changing from 60hz to 75hz is it as easy as just going into the control panel/display properties/monitor and changing to 75. Well this work. I remember way back the reason I started using refreshforce rate program was because changing refresh rates in the display properties didn't work. Sorry if I'm not sounding very smart on this subject.

Thanks
