I am having an incredibly difficult time choosing a monitor for my new build. I am a pretty hardcore gamer so response time is important to me, but I also play console games on a TV with a 5ms response time and notice no problem so here goes.

LG L227WTG

Samsung 233SW

Dell Ultrasharp 2209WA

I want to get the dell from the incredible reviews it has recieved but the response time is shying me away from it. I can not find any reviews at all on the Samsung but it looks to be just as good or better than the Dell at a lower price. I want to get the LG because it is the safe bet, cheap, fast and a decent monitor.

I think the Dell monitor is an IPS panel, which offers better quality (color, viewing angles, etc), but sacrifices the response time. Depending on how trained your eye is, you may notice the difference between the TN panel and the IPS, but generally, TN offers faster response time.

it's an e-IPS. I can tell the difference between it and a most TN pretty easily.

I was just going to buy that monitor and it is no longer on that website, any idea if it will ever be back? Crazy, now it is back again.

It's only on the small business section of Dell's site. Your link goes to the home office section, where the monitor doesn't exist. Also, anandtech's new referral script is messing with your link.

dell site has a 20% off deal every 2 weeks or so... just wait a little bit and then snag one at a very low price (that way they are not TECHNICALLY undercutting their distributors when selling directly)
