I have been hearing bad and good things about getting an lcd for graphic design. Some people swear that crts are the only way to go, but I am also hearing good things about lcd monitors as of late. Though I still read about problems of ghosting, dead pixels, and brightness and contrast issues I hear the new 16ms lcds resolbes most of those problems. What are your opinions about lcds for artists? What is the best lcd you can get for under a $1000?

The thing is, I'm not always working on static images, but I also do some video editing and animation too. I also game once in a while. Do any of that was mentioned have problems with ghosting or shimmering?

I watch movies on mine, as well as video editting. Just fine.

I also game quite heavily. Ghosting is incredibly minimal in all of these situations.

The Dell 1800FP can be had for ~$450. Some say the 17" Dell is even better. I don't have any first hand experience with it though.
