LCD Flat Panel depth for mini-itx setup

I recently found something unique to put my mini-itx board in, a wooden medicine cabinet :D I picked up for free at a thrift store.

Now, what I'd like to do is put the innards of an LCD monitor behind the door where the mirror was. The problem however is I only have about a little less than 1.5" depth to fit the lcd panel into (the memory stick sticks out the tallest so I used this for measuring purposes). Does anyone here have experience with gutting an LCD monitor and removing the bezel and other unnecessary parts for modding purposes? I'm just wondering if LCD monitors out there exist that I could strip that would fit within the space I have left (maybe the innards of some are slimmer than others?).

I'll try and post pictures of what I'm attempting here.

I'm not sure exactly, eBay might be your best bet. I bought mine last month at a local ham radio event (lots of interesting computer stuff there as well). The guy I bought it from threw in a bunch of extra accessories that do normally cost a pretty penny on the web (e.g. 2gb SSD module, external PSU, etc). However, the one I got was older (Epia ML series) so it was fairly inexpensive and I don't mind its age because I'm not looking to build a gaming rig or anything with it.

Not a huge market so there isn't as much price pressure. Sometimes it costs a bit extra to find the "right" part for your project.

Logic Supply

Mini-Box

Newegg motherboards
Newegg cheap ITX case

The Intel boards are dirt cheap for what you get, so if they'll do what you want then they're tough to beat for price. Newegg's actually a couple bucks more expensive than elsewhere (like ProVantage or Buy.com) but linked for simplicity sake. Another simple alternative is the Shuttle KPC45.

mscdex0 (LOL, brings back memories of autoexec.bat) you may want to try asking in the Video Cards and Graphics forum. My only suggestion would be to find a cheap working-but-used monitor as the donor, in case something goes wrong.
