Ok, I just recieved my new Samsung 151P LCD. I install the DVI- nothing. Hook up the analog, install the CD driver for Digital Monitor (in Win XP, if that matters), turn off the comp and restart with DVI. It shows the initial WinXP stuff, like with the DOS stuff and the WinXP splash screen, but when it gets to the actual operating system where I can move my mouse and stuff, the monitor goes pitch black as if it isn't getting a signal.

I have a VisionTek GeForce 3 Ti500.

I set the refresh rate to 60Hz, to no avail. I can't switch it from Analog Display to Digital Display in the Display Properties-> Device Selection Thing either.

I start in Safe Mode, and the monitor works fantastically in DVI mode, so I'm pretty sure it's a driver problem.

Any help out there? Thx much!

I recently purchased a Samsung 171P and am having a similar problem. I think the problem may be (and I certainly hope I am wrong) is that the input cable for the lcd (at least mine) is a DVI-D male while the output from my graphics card is DVI-I (digital and analog). I can't find any literature as to whether these are not compatible. It would intuitively seem however that there shouldn't be a problem w/a graphics card wanting to send digital and analog signals and the monitor only wanting the ditigal one. Anyways, I'm calling Samsung tommorow and will post again if they have anything useful to say.

You can find the XP drivers for Samsung here. They may or may not be different from the ones you got, but might as well try.

If you get video for BIOS etc, and then lose it, then I would definitely suspect that the driver is peeing in your wheaties.

Hmmm. that link seems to time out. ANyway, just click on the home link and then go to support, then to computer items-monitors, etc. you can find them

Well I called Samsung today and discovered that my monitor was indeed shipped to me with a DVI-D input cable which will not correctly work (wow they get specific) with a DVI-I graphics card. They said that they would send me a DVI-I cable and that I will have to unscrew the monitor base in order to remove the DVI-D cable and to install the DVI-I cable. You can tell if yours is DVI-D by looking at the adapter and seeing whether or not there are two pins above and below the flat wide pin. If the pins aren't there then you have a DVI-D and should call Samsung.
