LCD driver/application cd installation necessary or not?

I just got an LG L227WTG 22" LCD and I am just wondering if I should install the software that came with the screen? I realize you need drivers for a video card but what would the advantage be to installing some programs that came with the screen? Is there anything on it that would do something that the menu buttons don't do or something? I would guess that there could be settings for adjusting color or something for the pickiest user but to me it almost looks good out of the box.

Just curious because my keyboard drivers sit and collect dust as they seem pointless but the LCD software might actually have some benefit.

How do you guys calibrate your screens or whatever it would be called? It seems people don't have a suggestion about the software installation vs. not installing it so I am just wondering if the more experienced graphics people simply use the buttons to adjust the colors/settings?

Have you looked at what's on the CD? You have a monitor and a video card driver, I can't see what else you would need to configure the monitor.

I'm not the best person to answer this, but calibrating usually consists of images / colors being displayed on your monitor, then you use your monitors settings to adjust to get your monitor to your likings.
