LCD burn-in question

I purchased a cheap 32" LCD about 2 years ago. For the most part the picture is pretty good. Since we have TWC a lot of the programming is in 4:3 format, even some local programming on the HD stations. When we watch anything in 16:9, in darker scenes I notice black lines on the screen where the 4:3 programming usually cuts off.

Is this a common problem? I don't think the tv has an option to stretch 4:3 to 16:9 to alleviate this issue. The tv is still covered under my AMEX extended warranty so I can still return/repair the tv.

Burn in can happen on LCD just as it can on plasma. I would watch a lot of HD (full screen) programming for a while to see if it makes it any better.

My mom's Westinghouse 27" has the same problem. I left it set to stretch to widescreen last time I visited, maybe it'll clear itself up after a while. Are you certain there isn't a stretch button on the remote?

No problem on my 32" Sharp Aquos. Had it for a year or so. I don't watch SD program on it though, strictly HD programs and movies and gaming.
