LCD backlighting question...

Last time i looked for a new TV was over a year ago. I opted for plasma for obvious reasons. However, i have recently been looking and cant seem to figure out why its so hard to figure out style of the LED backlighting. Did manufactures drop the edge-backlit designation because people were not buying them? I even see some advertised as LED TVs, with no indication of LCD. Does this mean that genuine pixel level LED TVs have hit the market? Basically, i am just trying to figure out which are LED edge-lit and which are arrayed LED backlit. Any suggestions?

Seems to me that most full-array LED sets have wording in the description noting that as a feature. I mean, edge lit is probably cheaper so that may be your first clue. Maybe also look for "local dimming" as that feature is specific to full-arrays?
