I had a 11yr old 17" crt fry on me (woke up to a popcorn sound at 3am).

I've decided that I want a 21.5" 1920x1080 to replace it and have narrowed it down to 3 choices.
These all have LED back lighting and are priced between $135 and $175

HP 2211x

Gateway FHX2152L

ViewSonic VX2250wm-LED

Which one of these is better ?

Avoid Gateway -- or, rather, don't expect it to last past its 1 year warranty.

Given pixel issues and such, I'd get a Dell or something you can get buy in person (preferably at Costco).

I think you will be much happier with 23 or 24 inch. a 21.5 inch 16:9 is really pretty small and will only be about an inch taller than your 17 inch 4:3 crt. also the text will be way way smaller than what you are used to looking at.

I'm used to 2048x1536 on my 21" crt
I tend to prefer small text, loved my screen on my 15" 1600x1200 laptop I used to have.

This won't be my primary monitor, it'll be for a secondary system for now.
so power usage, size, and plain pixel # is what matters most I suppose.

i just got a 23 inch version of this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...444&Tpk=bx2231

ive been pretty pleased with it so far. Wasn't perfect out of the box, but once i did some basic calibrating it turned out to be a nice screen. Any complaints that I have about it are related to TN technology itself.

That monitor doesn't have a DVI port, Is that a problem ?
I believe that's the one the local fry's tried to sell me when they were out of all the 3 I listed above. I didn't know what to think of samsung.

The reason I noticed the gateway was because I've read good reviews about them, and while at the store the picture quality on them seemed to be the best. Although this could have just been because it was calibrated right ... Costco website only lists acer and samsung

Ok, local store has the samsung linked above.
My main concern is the hdmi ports, what are the disadvantages of this if any ?
Any reason not to get this one ?

I just purchased the BX2231 for in store pickup at fry's ...
Hopefully I didn't make a mistake, thanks.

UPDATE: They emailed and called me back and said the website was wrong, they do NOT have it in stock.

samsung is considered one of the best LCD manufacturers. Their TV's are considered the best LCD tv's.
