the guy was lying to get votes.

Christ, people are fucking stupid.
+1 and true on both accounts. I do think though that there was some genuine feelings on both sides of the aisle, even though obviously not on the part of LBJ. And it DID help. Used to be poverty meant not enough to eat; now we've got poverty in hundred dollar tennis shoes. The side effects, especially destroying the family be replacing Daddy with Uncle Sugar, have been pretty horrendous though.

Because a majority of generational welfare recipients are black, and forcing black welfare recipients to work for a paycheck would be perceived as a form of slavery. It is this perverse culture of work and responsible living being equated to slavery or whiteness which has destroyed black society.

Where I live, its the Jews with the funny hats n curls and the Asians who are all gansta who are lazing off. The black folk live in the rich area
Maybe its just a US thing with the black people

Of course.

Good. This political name calling from both sides has always been a sore spot with me. It serves no purpose other than derailing threads and starting forum word fights.

I think the best solution would be for each 'side' to police their own and call 'em on it. You calling out someone from the left would carry a lot of weight, like if sleepless did with someone on the right.

Or maybe race doesn't have anything to do with it, and it's merely a symptom of the welfare state.

Out of curiosity, what percentage of this forum and the country do you consider to be 'leftloons'? Can you hold liberal positions without being a 'loon' or dishonest? If so, can you provide an example of someone who fits that description?

Doesn't really matter what percentage, I was just describing to the types that will do things like ignore that LBJ quote and a few threads later hold him up as a great civil rights champ (based on nothing more than the D )while they blast Republicans like Nixon with a far better record and in general rewrite history to suit a dumb D vs R argument. There are plenty that do just that.

And mainly, I see that people are really more hypocrites than anything else. I use the term leftloon jokingly mostly, but it does fit a few particularly well.

Mostly leftists I know are complete hypocrites about the things they claim to corner the market on: at tax time they pay as little as possible and go for every possible deduction (like everyone else) few bother for two seconds to venture outside their first world bubbles of luxury to actually go help poor people or minorities or anyone else they pretend to champion, while actually heaping scorn on people who do (like religious people that do missionary work for example.) Most live their lives more conservative than conservative but just preach a lot of left-wing horseshit that they don't actually practice. (Mostly its just some weird desire to get even with people that dare to be more successful than they are or some revenge on their parents or something.)

I don't doubt you'll find the same sort of blatant hypocrisy on the right too.. just usually its been my experience the left is way more annoying and self-righteous about it.

So what do you do when the people in charge of allocating the funds are not spending them wisely? Are neglecting their fiduciary responsibilities and not just wasting the money, they are funneling it to their children, friends and relatives who are not providing services with value equal to what they're being paid? What if the people in charge of collecting those funds are then demanding more so that they may make up the shortfall and this is a perpetual cycle of wasteful spending and demands for more?

Why you'd remove them from power and put new people in power of course. A simple answer. But what if over the course of your lifetime you have put new people in power countless times and the situation gets only worse? What do you do?

This is where the United States of America finds itself. What do we do?

when the people elected are the ones that promise the most out of the public treasury, then the country will fall.

from its ashes will rise a nation.

inbetween, millions of people will die in the revolution.

hopefully the (certain) fall of the US will not happen within my lifetime

Outside of your imagination, who exactly is on welfare and how would you know?

(Not sure what the 2nd part of that means. Are you posting drunk again?)

How do you think they get by?

So your automatic assumption is welfare?

Based on people I know who are familiar with the OJ (heh) community here in LA, many are richer than you'd ever guess from things like real estate, investing, banking, and other businesses serving their own orthadox community. Those that are actually poor rely on Jewish based charities and religious support organizations. I doubt you'll find any evidence what-so-ever that they're all on welfare at any higher rate than any other group, just because they wear funny hats and have curls.

No no
The doc I watched said that the Jewish folk are supposed to support the ones who chose to just study religion. But that almost all of them are on welfare.
Do you have stats on the real story?
Or are you Jewish and your penis feels tiny right now?

Sober up and try again.

I'm not Jewish BTW, just I get out more often than you do, clearly.

Was this talking about Israel? Israel is having a big problem right now with the Jewish Orthodox, since their constitution guarantees people who study the Torah a regular income and protection from various other duties (like joining the army which everyone else in Israel has to do). As a result there's a large amount of Jewish Orthodox in Isreal that do nothing but study the Torah all day and have many children. They also hold the country back because it's the Jewish Orthodox that demand the sexes be segregated, and all sorts of old timey laws that haven't been relevant for a thousand years.

This isn't a problem in the US, because, well, we don't have a constitution that guarantees you a good income if you do nothing but study the Torah all day and complain about the modern world. Such a man (and it's only Men and their wives who can get this stipend) would be laughed out of the USA. The Jewish Orthodox in the USA are either paid by their local synagogue (like a pastor for a church) or are separately wealthy.

The funny thing is that it's the right-wing of Israel that did this. Which is why instead of looking at left and right wing, we should look at the individual policies and laws as they're put up.
