anyone ever had an experience with a lawyer who was a genuine, caring, non-arrogant, good person?

i mean they still can be confident without being condescending, but i haven't seen one that knew the difference between the two.

There were a couple in my hometown who was just the opposite of what you described. Unfortunately, you're dead on right about every other lawyer I've worked or dealt with.

A good friend of mine is. She works for the Office of the Legal Defender for a county government. Go figure.

I agree Mosh. I know of one who thinks he can treat people people however he wishes and because he is a lawyer, it makes it okay. Recently noticed he is now sharing a bed with his bad karma:thumbsup:

My synthesis and computer ethics professor is a lawyer, she is nice but she is quite arrogant sometimes and her lawyer stories are pretty lame. Funny becaue she is assistant chair to the dpt. of computer science but makes less than other computer science professors I have had before.

you obviously haven't met that many lawyers
how many does one meet in their lifetime?

have no idea, but i go to school with a bunch of future lawyers every day and most of them are decent people. i've met ~6 lawyers in my lifetime that i can remember and they are all really nice people.

I think it comes with being in school for a long time, I know a lot of doctors that act like that too. (maybe the God complex is a little more deserved but I'm not going into that debate)

My wife's good friend became a lawyer. She lasted two years.

She came to the conclusion that to be successful, she would have to sacrifice her moral standards, so she quit.

it really depends on what you need a lawyer for also, that will shape your interpretation of how "mean" they are.

always get recommendations, if you can, if you need legal representation.
