..yet another reason to stay out of industrial fast food joints. Fast food is especially dangerous to kids since they have the highest risk exposure..

When risk levels for acrylamide were added to Proposition 65 in 1990, the chemical was generally thought of as an industrial agent, used in food packaging and to treat sewage, according to the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Except for media hype, there seems to be pretty scant evidence that acrylamide causes cancer in normal doses. Even the Swedish have backed down from their earlier stance that it might be a carcinogen.

But I see the California hype machine keeps rolling along, as usual.

Starches create Acr. when cooked whether they're cooked at home or in McDonalds. There's nothing about fast food that makes it more dangerous as far as Acr. is concerned.

I once had some acrylamide solution shoot straight into my eye (yes, I should've been wearing safety glasses). Probably the equivalent of a few thousand french fries, if not a few million...

no effects so far!

Eating just shouldn't be this dmnd complicated! If it is slow enough to catch and small enough to fry, it is food!
