Saw it on the big screen not too long ago, loved it.

Word is when he gets tortured by the Turks and it really takes it out of him . . . they didn't just whip him. In his account he got raped, but this wasn't decent material for film when LoA was made so they just had him whipped instead.

Great movie. Won best picture 1962 Oscars. But Peter O'Toole was beaten for best actor by Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird, which is also a great film.

Why would you even compare the two? Because they're both old? North by Northwest > **!!!

Lawrence of Arabia is an awesome movie but I'm convinced after a couple of viewings that its true greatness can only be appreciated with a nice home theater setup. The cinematography is amazing and the soundtrack just deserved to have full volume going to those speakers.
