He published Ginsberg's Howl and was arrested and prosecuted for pornography. He was acquitted.

I've been in his long-running bookstore in SF, City Lights. He was an integral part of the flowering of the beat poets in the 50's, and he kept the damn light on for decades and decades after.

I thought I was one of the last three people on earth who knew who the Fugs were. Golden Filth was an inspired album.

Sorry my heads spinning. Never ever expected this response. What happened?

The Fugs - Wikipedia We are talking about these guys right?

Only ever heard the first second album. I distinctly remember Dirty Old Man, and Morning morning.

Omg, The Fugs! Greenie, you are one of the last posters on this forum I would expect to have known and loved them!

A contemporary band, generally less politcal, but just as dirty and funny, was Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts.

As a HS student, I came across an album of theirs with a "Sale prohibited to minors" sticker on it. I got my Mom to make the purchase. Thanks Mom!

Hot Nuts.

Damn, you had a cool mom. First album recording of any kind I bought with my own money was Freakout. Between 6th and 7th grade.

Well, I guess my Mom was "cool," at times, in unexpected ways. She was very proper, extremely so. Manners were baked into her very being, but . . . she could surprise you at times, in her own quiet, accepting, wise way. This was definitely one of those times.

I trusted her. She trusted me. She was my Mom.

I'll check those out when I have a chance.
I don't wonder that you're surprised, so far, the only person around here that's come up with a pretty good read on me is Moonbeam.
