Lawnmower engine makes skipping sounds.

Anyone know what the cause might be? Basically, every 20-30secs, i hear two consecutive "skipping sounds" that sound like "mini farts". I am using a regular craftsman walking lawnmower, nothing fancy. It works just fine, besides those sounds. I have already changed the blade, oil, and air filter. Could it be the spark plug miss-firing?

i thought so...thx. Hopefully that is what it is. Now i gotta go buy the plug and the spark plug socket.
