Lawnmower Carb cleaning - how to?

I knew a guy who swore by vinegar to soak carbs with. He said it would break down the varnish without ruining the plastic or rubber.

I usually strip them down and clean them with carb cleaner and a stiff brush and use a fine wire to clean the passages. Be careful if you use compressed air to blow it out as you can blow out seats.

Well after talking to some car nuts the concensus seems to be:

1) Boil it
2) Soak in kerosene or diesel

I don't want my food to taste like gas so it's completely disassembled and soaking in diesel. Will hit it with air compressor and brake cleaner tomorrow.

I will NOT be defeated.

Not that anybody cares, but I reclaimed my man card.

1) Soaked a fully disassembled carb in diesel for a few days including #4 from above
2) Scrubbed and made sure fuel could flow up from resovoir to throttle body.
3) She started right up after a few pulls, mowed a few times....


4) Now need to move to tuning because shes running without the power/RPM expected and bogs on what she should not.
