I have a 12.5HP/38" cut Yard Machine about a '99 model. I was using it today and the crank shaft pulley just broke. Does anyone have any recommendations of a web site to order the part from? I googled it and I found the official Yardmachine web site, but they want 46.18 for it. With it being that old I really don't want to put that much money into it unless I have to.
Thanks!

It came from Lowes. I called them and they can't call their supplier until Monday. I'm just trying to get a heads up on the price, or maybe even try to order it myself if I can find the correct one.

eh, if they said it's 46$ that's probably retail.. you most likely aren't going to find it for any significant ammount less. :p

You're complaining about spending less than 50 bucks on a riding mower that would be 10 - 20x more expensive to replace.. lol

Be thankful it's just the drive pully and not the whole engine.

I wouldn't expect too big of a discount.

They are all probably getting it from the same source and once it gets pegged to be used for a certain application (special order) the price goes up considerably.

Now, if this pulley is a generic pulley being used for your mower then it probably can be had at a deep discount if you can find it at a industrial supply house.

Something is telling me that shaft might be bent as well. Might as well replace the engine if that's the case, wouldn't you agree?

Eh, last mower we had lasted something like 25 years. Would've lasted longer if I'd seen the oil leak before trying to run it.

If you don't mind me asking, was it one of those mowers that cost alot?

It was a '76 Simplicity. We got it used in the '80's. Don't remember the price anymore. It was a high-mid range garden tractor. Our new tractor is a 2000 Simplicity Broadmoor (again, bought used). I think those go for around $4,000 new.

Yes, but it's very very hard to bend the shaft on a riding lawnmower AFAIK... it isn't like a regular push mower where the crankshaft holds the blade and sees all the punishment that comes along with it .. lol

If we're just talking about a regular run of the mill pulley here, you could probably find one for 5 - 10$ at an industrial supply house, as was said..

Isn't that one of those commercial tractors?

No, though Simplicity does have a Commercial brand under the corporate umbrella too.

Simplicity was owned by Allis Chalmers for a long time, but recently went back to being a privately-held company as they were before Allis bought them. They're a higher-end brand though.

Oh ok, I see now. Kind of like how Cub Cadet-International used to be? Now I think Cub Cadet is like a dressed up MTD.
