Saab rear-ended his Suby Leone 4wd, basically submarined under it, wiping out most of the front end superficially (the expensive kind of damage ;)), obviously not my bro's fault, so he just glances at the back of his, doesn't look like much damage, so he makes teh fateful mistake of telling them 'She'll be right mate'...of course he consequently finds somewhat more damage than he thought ;)

He won't be making that mistake again methinks ;)

Neither. No requirement to report accidents where no one is injured, and he didn't think the damage to his car was worth bothering them with ;)

Even the smallest scratch is worth 'bothering them' for, it's why you pay them!

Now THAT's a common sense rule. If nobody's hurt, it's up to the participants. None of this, "Injury or $500 in damage," crap. Scratched paint can cost more than $500.

You misunderstand me. He has no fully comp cover. Just 3rd party property. It was entirely their fault, so he could have recovered against their insurer, but he didn't think the damage was worth it (he's waii to nice a guy like that :p).

how long ago was the accident?

did he get the other drivers details?

if he did then he should still be able to claim for it, I know people that have waited 6 months and then claimed off the other drivers insurance and been covered by them.

Your brother probably isn't going to make that kind of mistake again. Hopefully there won't need to be a next time though.

just make sure he takes the car to a Panel beater in a small country town...they don't have to have proper repair reports done, only phot's are submitted to the insurer...the panel beater will often do repairs that pre date the accident...I know from experience.

I had a small dingle back in 2003 in my Vl crummydore and was supposed to have it repair at Mt Druitt smash repairs, the repair bill came to $1800 but the insurer(fvcking GIO)of the other guy knocked it back and wasn't gunna do sh!t about it until the repair was under $1200 (which meant my two driver side simmons FR17's would not be repaired).

So I waited till I went on holidays a few weeks later and while I was at my parents place in Cootamundra I had the locl smash repairer do me up a quote and submit it to GIO, he charged them $3900 and was approved, which meant I go a whole new spray job on the driver side, 2 new tyres, my mags repaired, and some old damage on the front spoiler repaired...the car looked better than before the accident.

Then some slack bastard stole the car from out the back of my work in Penrith 3 weeks later and torched it :(

WA is the CA of Aus, but with better weather, ah heck all pollution, and a tiny population

We're the current economic powerhouse, and Perth has higher median house prices than Sydney is today's paper headline iirc ;)

Wow. So much aussie in one post.

I think we need an Aussie to English translator on here.

aggreed.
Looks like we need a translator for you too. Or just spell check.

There is hope. Version 2.0 of Firefox is supposed to have spellcheck. Sorry, a little off the topic.
