Law School

Thinking of becoming a lawyer, what colleges should I look into? I won't be able to get into IVY league, so anything like NYU would be realistic sugggestions.

My fiance is going into law...already has her paralegal and she might go on to Law School but they are so damn expensive!

Only know schools in my area that she has looked at, and of course the Ivy League's 🙁

There is no doubt that law school requires dedication. However if you can organize and prioritize there is still time for building computers, reading AT forums, and sleeping. If you are not very organized and like to sleep for 10 hours - time to rethink. I usually study 8-9 hours a day including class time (3 hours). I also spend 10 hours on Sat AND Sun keeping up. If you survive you'll find your stride.

If you're interested in intellectual property, you should check out the University of Houston. In the most recent survey, they're ranked #4 nationally for IP. Houston's a fairly laid back town with a relatively low cost of living. Also, tuition is quite cheap as well.

Though every school's got its fair share of cut-throat competitive nuts. I've taken a fairly laid-back approach and you can still get through.

For those just starting out, keep in mind that your first year of school can, in a lot of ways, have the biggest impact on your career (realized this my 2nd year - whoops!). So nose to the grindstone in year one and you can start to coast a bit for the last two.

feel free to PM with any questions

good luck!
