I see no point in using sites like that. Just write an essay to your best abilities and then have several trustworthy people proofread your essay.

Since practicing law involves the ability to write well and voluminously, I'd say the essay is pretty important. If you can't write, you have no business being a lawyer. Believe me, you're going to have to prove your ability to write a lot in law school. Of course, the LSAT, GPA, and recommendations carry a lot of weight too.

Me <- went to law school.

BTW, if the message you posted to start this thread is any indication, you really need to practice your writing skills. I don't mean to be harsh, but if that's how you normally write, you've chosen the wrong profession, my friend.

Law school essays are important (probably 4th after LSAT, grades, and recommendations) because there is a *lot* of writing in law school. Not only for the first year writing course but also the final exams are essay and you have to be able to condense a semester (or year's) worth of material into a three hour exam. The admissions committee want to make sure you can write at a competitive level.

I don't think it's necessary to have your essay appraised by a pay-for-review site, though. After all, the admissions people are interested in hearing you in your own voice. I would just have it read by people you know well and trust to give honest feedback.

If your grades are borderline and your LSAT is kinda weak, then I think that the essay is important.

PM it to me, and I'll be happy to review it. What is the school, BTW?
