Law: Posting photos on my blog

Ok so I've been having a little problem lately with some people complaining about photos that are on my site. What is the law for posting photos on my website and if I take a photo of someone am I free to do whatever I want with the photo (besides manipulating it) ??
Thanks for all replies!!

why don't you just do the right thing and take them down. Wouldn't you want them to do the same for you?

Why be such a hardass?

unless you took the picture while they were in a private place (like a dressing room, private home, toiltet), you can do whatever you want

Your girlfriend is cute. Or is she not your girlfriend and is the one complaining about pics on your site?

edit: Do you mean the flickr photos?

No its just the fact that theres nothing wrong with the photos just they dont want pictures of them on there, but the photos have others in them so....

If your friends are asking you to take down pictures of them...perhaps it would be nice of you to take them down.

the law basicially is this, you are free to take a picture of anyone you want as long as they are in a place where there is no reasonable expectation of priviacy, IE, the street, the mall, a resturant,..... basically anyplace other then their home, however thats is a grey area, because you can be standing on a pub street and take a pic of some rich/famous person at there home with a telephoto lens and have it be fine, the poperazzi (sp) uses that one

you have no legal obligation to takee teh photo down/delete it / whatever,. it comes down to your morals and ethics about ignoring someones request

If these are your friends asking this, you're a d!ck for even considering looking up what the law has to say.

Just take them down. Don't be a d!ck.

no no its not friends just some randoms

Well, if they are connected to you in some fashion. Friend, friend of a friend or any other means, I would just take them down. It's not worth it.

its just the fact that they want me to take a photo(s) down just because they don't look good in them, its a hassle for me as well as it also removes photos of others who may want to be on the site,

I doubt anyone cares that much. Why don't you blur their faces or something?

Its all good, I got the information I needed, thanks alot

BTW, people like you don't get invited back to parties.

I hate having my picture taken and I usually delete my picutre from people's cameras if I'm the host. Anyone who resists doesn't come back.

No, but my school's police force has a team dedicated to crawling facebook and myspace looking for pictures of underage drinking on campus. I'm graduating in May and I'll be buying my first home before I'm 21. Until August, I'll be living in an oncampus apartment. How much legal drinking do you think I do?
