L&O used to be in top20 for years. then they moved it to the Sun time slot where it dropped to 75th place

it's back for a 19th season, but season 20 is doubtful unless it's ratings pick up.

My guesses:
1) He got a better job
4) It's a planned leave, and he'll be back (maybe he's having a kid -- like when Mariska's character on SVU left for a season [for undercover work] cause she was preggers IRL)
2) He decided to retire / just got tired of doing that show
3) They're having a Rent reunion

l&o can be a revolving door for cast..they are made to be expendable for the most part.
keeps the show alive and the actors from being able to negotiate massive salaries.

??? Which one was that? I remember Alexander Cabbot left because she went in to witness protection on SVU. I can't remember any other blonde DAs.

...I do love how they get the hottest women to fill some rather unlikely jobs for hot women.

I heard it was to work on his theatre career.

Yeah, that one was pretty odd (it was on the original L&O)... Elisabeth Rohm as Serena Southerlyn.

I like the white guy they have on as the cop on the original series now. I'm not a huge fan of the guy they're replacing Green with yet, but it could be interesting.

Great freaking episode. It was like a movie. +1 to the bullshit ending. You don't "evade" the cops and then they give up like that laugh about it and walk off with a background shot overlooking the city skyline. Sorry.

I saw her last episode for the first time recently. She had been getting more annoying, so I had been hoping that she would get fired. The "Is it because I'm a lesbian" line was a big WTF, though.

I keep thinking that Lupo needs a shave. Jeremy Sisto played one of the guys in Suicide Kings; he's really aged since then.
