ok, so i'm obsessed with this show. it's quirky, it's strange, it has a rhythm. at the moment i'm watching the premiere on DVD. i missed most of the first season. :(

anyway, what do you guys think?? Vincents character in Law and Order:Criminal Intent = Monk with an edge?

Well, hasn't Criminal "Attempt" been around longer than Monk? I like both shows.

Yeah, I can kind of see it that way (the edginess), except that Goren doesn't have any of the quirks or shortcomings, he's just absurdly brilliant.

I hate that dude. He really pisses me off with his pushy attitude. Only had to see one episode to know that I'm never gonna see it again.

Not really. I think Goren is brilliant and a little socially inept because frankly Vincent D'Onofrio (the actor) is a lot like that in real life, though the Goren character is an exaggerated version of it. (D'Onofrio is just a tiny bit off as far as social interaction goes, but he isn't as wildly, insanely brilliant as Goren is. Close though; he knows a lot of stuff) At first I think they were trying to make him out to be like Columbo: acts kind of stupid, but is really very clever and smart. In the end though D'Onofrio's personality won out.
