Lavasoft (Ad-Aware) hacked?

When I tried to go to Lavasoft, the makers of Ad-Aware, to see if they had put up their new version, the browser stayed active for a long time and finally timed out. When I closed the window, a weird video came up. My machine is pretty secure so I'm not worried about receiving any other malicious code in this one.

The url is www.lavasoftusa.com. I intentionally did not make it an active link. Don't try it, yourself, if you don't think your machine is tight.

Are these guys still at it? I haven't seen a refupdate since 9/24...very old by their standards.

They updated to a whole new engine... 6.0. It is already out for paying subscribers, and will be released to the general public sometime early this month.

I've heard good things about it, just haven't taken the plunge yet.

SpyBot works well on my machine. Missed one cookie that Ad-Aware didn't, but SpyBot seems a little better at explaining what it's removing.

So the new ad-aware sucks? I've never heard of Spy Bot...is it just like ad-aware or is it something else?

It's the same type of application as Ad Aware. Little more indepth. I use it and it does an extremely good job.

No, it seems to work good for me.

But spybot catches some things that adaware doesnt (and visa versa) so I use both.

spybot S&D is the defacto in spyware detection and removal now adays knocks the socks off ad-aware.

The new Ad-Aware 6 that was just released last week found a couple of things on my PC that SpyBot didn't.
